The Point Of Hope's End

by : Bro. R.A. West

The text is in Mark chapter 5 beginning with verse 1
through verse 19. The Bible says:  And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.  But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.  For He said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.  And He asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.  Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.  And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.  And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.  And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.  And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.  And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.  And they began to pray Him to depart out of their coasts.  And when He was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.  Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

What is wrong with God's children? Why will they not praise Him? Go back and tell them and show them what good things God has done for thee. If we would do that, there would be a revival break out all across America that would shake the very foundations of hell. Here is what you must remember: God listens to everything you say. I wonder who He would rather listen to, the one that talks about how lumpy their bed is, or the one that does not even have a bed but still praises Him. Do not ever come to me and tell me that it cannot get much worse because it can. God has His way. If it has to be in a whale's belly or in a storm, He will have His way.

God knows when you are down to the end of your road and, many times, God allows you to face difficulties, hardships, and situations that He may know what is in your heart, and what quality and caliber of person you are. He wants to know what He is working with. He wants to know what you are made out of.

How will you show people that your Master is real? Cornelius gave so much money that it came up as a memorial in heaven.  (Acts chapter 10) Giving all the money in the world does  not mean one thing to God. You must have the right attitude, and begin to manifest and reveal that your character and your nature is of a good quality. And that only comes when God has touched your heart and changed your life.

I want to talk to those that feel like they have arrived at hope's end. There is such a place as hope's end, where you have run out of hope and out of yourself. You have exhausted all of your knowledge and wisdom and cannot get through the dilemmas in your life.

Once there was a great man named Paul who warned the centurion that was with him and the captain of the ship not to leave the port right now because he perceived that much harm and damage would be done. (Acts 27:10) People will not listen to the man of God.  They refuse to hear the man that has the Word in his mouth.  Sometimes people think that because they have been going to church for twenty or thirty years that they have seniority and have arrived to the place where they do not have to listen to what the man of God says. Even worse is that other people in the church look at these people and assume that this automatically makes them stronger than the rest of the Christians in the church just because they have been there a long time. Understand that you never get to the place that you do not have to listen to the man that has the Word in his mouth because, I promise you, that you do not have to worry about a burning bush speaking to you. You do not have to worry about a stone or rock following you around, and you do not have to worry about a cloud by day and a fire by night with eyes looking out of it because the only way that God is going to speak to you today is out of His Word, and by the anointed tongues of His vessels.

The Word that is alive will never die. Jesus said, "I am alive forevermore." (Revelations 1:18) Paul told them and warned them that they should not leave the port then for he perceived hurt and danger ahead. Today people are hunting all over the country for the perfect church. A church that does not demand much from them. A church that does not require a whole lot; one where they can get there at seven o'clock and guarantee that they will be home at nine. But, that is not what you really need. You need to be taught and trained in the Word of God. The only ones that are going to be able to survive are those that are rooted and grounded in the truth. The only way you are going to be sustained is to have the anointing of God in your life and have an understanding of the Word. The Bible says, "The people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits." (Daniel 11:32)
